Why the Attic?

The attic is the MOST IMPORTANT area in a house to insulate.  This is where a majority of the heat loss or gain in a home takes place. It is more cost effective to add insulation in the attic versus removing sheet rock and reinsulating the walls.   Building codes typically ensure insulation has been placed in the walls.  Even if we remove the sheet rock, only a minimal amount of insulation can be added due to the limited space available within a wall.  The attic is easy to access and has significant space to add insulation, increasing the R-value and giving the homeowner more benefits for the least amount of financial investment.   According to the U.S. Department of Energy, “by installing the recommended amount of fiberglass insulation according to your geographical location, you may reduce your heating and cooling costs by 32%”.
